The decision came after Austrian authorities arrested two individuals suspected of planning Islamist attacks on large events around Vienna.

The Austrian government confirmed the threat, prompting the concert organizers to cancel the shows to ensure public safety.

The organizers announced that all tickets will be automatically refunded within the next 10 working days.

Austrian General Director for Public Security, Franz Ruf, reported that a 19-year-old Austrian was arrested in Ternitz, and a second suspect was detained in Vienna.

Ruf noted that the suspects had radicalized via the internet and that chemical substances found during searches are being examined.

Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer acknowledged the cancellations as a “bitter disappointment” but praised the swift action of the police and security agencies in preventing a potential tragedy.

Vienna’s police chief, Gerhard Pürstl, mentioned that up to 65,000 people were expected to attend each concert, with an additional 22,000 fans anticipated outside the venue.

Molly Surette, who had been looking forward to attending Saturday’s show, expressed her disappointment but appreciated the focus on safety. “There’s been so much building up to this concert, and I’m devastated to miss it. But I’m glad everyone is hopefully going to be safe,” she said.
