They also met Eric Prydz and as the public took notice of how these DJ’s worked together, they derived the name Swedish House Mafia for them. Swedish House Mafia was chosen for them in March 2007 by Winter Music Conference, with the group officially adopting the name in 2008. However, Eric Prydz decided not to join the group premised on the fact that he is a “control freak” and one who cannot collaborate with others, even including his close friends.

On June 24, 2012, the Swedish House Mafia announced they would split up, with their final performance held at the Ultra Miami on March 24, 2013.

For the next five years, Steve Angello worked solo, while Axwell and Ingrosso performed as a duo.

On March 25, 2018, the Swedish House Mafia reunited in Miami, Florida with a surprise closing set at the 20th anniversary of Ultra Music Festival.
