Suez Canal Blockage Update

Information reaching abtc.ng indicates that, after several hours of dredging and excavation, the Ever Given ship which was involved in the Suez Canal and operated by Evergreen Marine has finally refloated. However, it is worth noting that, the ship is yet to be fully dislodged and cleared for operations again.

The affected firms in the Suez Canal; Maersk and partners have three vessels stuck in the canal and 29 vessels waiting to enter the canal, with more expected to reach the blockage today.

According to experts, although the canal may be reopened in the shortest time, its ripple effects on global capacity and equipment would be significant and the blockage has already triggered a series of further disruptions and backlogs in global shipping that could take weeks and even years to unravel.
