Steve Garvey is a former professional baseball player from the United States who is running for Senator in California in the 2024 election. From 1969 to 1987, he was a first baseman in Major League Baseball with the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres.

Garvey was selected first overall in the 1968 Major League Baseball draft by the Los Angeles Dodgers. On September 1, 1969, he made his Major League debut at age twenty.

On October 10, 2023, Garvey declared that he would compete as a Republican for the United States Senate in California in 2024. Garvey won the most votes in the partial term special election primary to replace Laphonza Butler and fill the vacancy vacated by Dianne Feinstein, which is January 2025.
