Actress Stephanie Okereke has been named the new Chairperson of Nigeria’s Official Selection Committee (NOSC) for the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS).

The NOSC, accredited by AMPAS, is responsible for selecting Nigeria’s entry for the International Feature Film (IFF) category at the 97th Annual Academy Awards.

Filmmakers are invited to submit their feature films for consideration through the NOSC portal from August 1 to August 30, 2024, at www.thenosc.org. The IFF Award recognizes feature-length films produced outside the U.S. with significant non-English dialogue.

The committee has been restructured, welcoming new members including Ali Nuhu, Blessing Effiom Egbe, Ijeoma Grace Agu, Kene Okwuosa, and Victor Akande, alongside returning members such as Victor Okhai, Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde, and Emem Isong.
Okereke emphasized that the inclusion of diverse talents will enrich the selection process, ensuring a robust representation of Nigerian cinema. The Oscars ceremony will take place on March 2, 2025, at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles.
