Novihoho Afaglo, CEO of Marrer Ghana Limited, Susatgad Boat Building And Fishing Industry, has strongly criticized the sale of state-owned hotels under the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT), labeling it as another instance of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) engaging in a “create, loot, and share” agenda.

The hotels in question include Labadi Beach Hotel, La Palm Royal Beach Hotel, Elmina Beach Resorts, Trust Lodge Hotel, and Busia Beach Resort.
Afaglo likened this deal to previous controversies like the Agyapa Deal and the PDS scandal, asserting that they exemplify the NPP’s approach to governance since taking office in 2016.
“In what serious country would state assets be sold to a cabinet minister if not for corruption? These deals do not benefit the state or its citizens; they only serve to enrich the elite few,” Afaglo remarked.

He expressed concern over the sale of profitable state assets without the consent of workers and criticized the comparative performance records of these hotels against private interests.
“Records show that Labadi Beach Hotel and Ridge Royal are more profitable than Rock City Hotel, which is owned by Bryan Acheampong, the buyer of these state assets. This raises serious questions about the motives behind such transactions,” he added.
Afaglo highlighted public outrage, including recent demonstrations under the banner of #HandsOffOurHotels, organized by youth, civil society groups, progressive forces, organized labor, members of Ga Mashie, and the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).
“These demonstrations reflect the anger of the populace against such abuses of power and corruption,” Afaglo concluded, urging transparency and accountability in the management and sale of state assets for the benefit of all Ghanaians.
