Siphiwe Mkhonza Cause of Death – Siphiwe Mkhonza, the former football star and SABC analyst, died on March 5, 2024, after battling a kidney infection.

Mkonza dropped a significant amount of weight before he passed away, and the football community was troubled and speculated about his weight loss.

There were suggestions that his weight loss could have been caused by an unidentified illness, and one such story suggested a kidney infection.

His weight loss was inexplicable, which begged the question of whether his health condition affected his general well-being.

Siphiwe Mkhonza

Born on January 2, 1979, Mkonza played club football for Bloemfontein Celtic, Ria Stars, Lamontville Golden Arrows, Kaizer Chiefs, SuperSport United, Maritzburg United, AmaZulu and Black Leopards.

He also won seven caps for the South African national team.

Mkhonza’s began his professional football career at Bloemfontein Celtic in 1999 and stayed there until 2001. He was the captain at the age of 18 in his first season.

In arguably his most successful stint with any club, Mkhonza made the big move to Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs from 2004 to 2007.

In his first season, he would achieve greatness by winning his first league title in the 2004–05 Premier Soccer League campaign. His move to Kaizer Chiefs saw him receive his first South Africa national team call up.

He is survived by his children, father Joseph ‘Skheshe Kheshe’ Mkhonza, mother Phindile Mkhonza, and brother.
