Simone Biles has responded to criticism of today’s gymnasts with a bold statement of her own.

Following her triumphant performance at the 2024 Olympics, the 27-year-old gymnast took to Instagram to address recent comments made by her former teammate, MyKayla Skinner.
Skinner, who competed with Biles at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, had recently suggested that current gymnasts lack the same level of talent and work ethic as those from previous years.
In her Instagram post, Biles shared celebratory photos with her Paris 2024 teammates and captioned them with, “lack of talent, lazy, olympic champions.” This was seen as a direct rebuttal to Skinner’s remarks, which had sparked controversy.

Skinner’s comments, made in a now-deleted YouTube video, implied that the current generation of gymnasts does not work as hard and hinted that the U.S. Center for SafeSport’s policies might be contributing to a decline in discipline.
Skinner later apologized, clarifying that her comments were not intended to disrespect the current team.
She expressed her support for the athletes and praised their hard work, acknowledging that her statements may have been misunderstood.
In her apology, she emphasized her respect for the efforts of all the gymnasts and congratulated them on their achievements.
