The decision came swiftly after an unfortunate landing on the vault, where her left leg buckled upon impact with the mat.

Despite attempting to continue, Jones was unable to compete in the balance beam and floor exercise events.

The 21-year-old, known for her prowess on the uneven bars, managed to achieve the top score of the night with a 14.675 before stepping down due to discomfort.

Her withdrawal adds to a string of injuries among top contenders, including Skye Blakely and Kayla DiCello, both sidelined with severe leg injuries earlier in the week.

Jones, who was expected to challenge alongside Simone Biles in Paris, remains optimistic about her future despite this setback, echoing sentiments shared by her peers facing similar challenges.
