Emelia Arthur, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary Candidate for Shama, Western Region, has criticized the Akufo-Addo and Bawumia administration for taking huge loans for projects that never materialize.

She expressed concern over the burden placed on Ghanaians to repay these loans while the promised projects remain unrealized.
Arthur emphasized that when the government secures loans for projects, it does so on behalf of the citizens who ultimately bear the financial responsibility.
She lamented that the delay and non-completion of these projects indicate a breach of trust by the government.
Her remarks came during a visit by the Parliamentary Select Committee on Health to the site of the proposed 100-bed capacity Shama Hospital.

Despite a groundbreaking ceremony attended by President Akufo-Addo and various stakeholders, including traditional leaders, four years ago, the project has not progressed.
Promised funding from Standard Chartered Bank and support from Sinosure China failed to materialize, leaving the site abandoned with no progress made.
Machinery and building materials brought to the site have vanished, leaving the community without the much-needed hospital.
Arthur’s criticism underscores the need for accountability and transparency in government projects to ensure they benefit the citizens as intended.
