The 22-year-old athlete, who entered the competition with high expectations, struggled with the 1.92m mark, an obstacle she needed to clear to secure a spot in the finals.

Yeboah began the day with promise, easily clearing the 1.83m bar on her second attempt and then surpassing the 1.88m height with relative ease.

However, when the bar was raised to 1.92m, Yeboah encountered difficulties. Despite being well below her personal best of 1.97m, she was unable to clear the height in any of her three attempts, leading to her elimination from the competition.

Yeboah, who is currently the top female high jumper in Africa, had a stellar track record leading up to the Games. She clinched gold at the African Games earlier this year and also won gold in the women’s high jump at the African Athletics Seniors Championships in Douala, Cameroon in June with a jump of 1.87m.

Her exit from the Olympics marks a setback for Ghana, following the earlier elimination of swimmer Harry Stacey from the Men’s 100m Freestyle.
