The St. Petersburg Police Department confirmed the arrest, linking Rod, whose real name is Rodarius Marcell Green, to a suspected involvement in a gang-related shooting incident in Florida.
According to police reports, the altercation occurred on the night of March 31, where shots were fired during a verbal argument among a group of individuals.
The incident left four individuals injured, including three men in their 20s and a 17-year-old woman, all sustaining non-life-threatening injuries.
Rod Wave was apprehended and taken to Manatee County Jail, where authorities identified him as a convicted felon.

However, his legal representatives, Bradford Cohen and Mark Rankin, promptly refuted these claims on social media, asserting that there was no evidence supporting the charge.

They clarified that Rod was not in possession of ammunition and was not a convicted felon, as suggested by law enforcement.
In a statement posted on Instagram, Cohen and Rankin stated, “Rod was arrested and detained with absolutely no evidence of wrongdoing. The police claimed he was a felon in possession of ammunition. Not only was he not in possession of ammunition, a basic check of public records would have easily demonstrated to the police that he was not a convicted felon.”
The attorneys further mentioned that both the prosecutor and the judge acknowledged the lack of evidence and subsequently released Rod on the same day.
This recent arrest marks another legal entanglement for Rod Wave, who was previously arrested in 2022 on unrelated charges of domestic battery by strangulation.
Despite these legal challenges, Rod has continued to make waves in the music industry, releasing successful albums like “Beautiful Mind” and “Nostalgia,” the latter featuring collaborations with artists like 21 Savage.
