Following a landslide victory led by Sir Keir Starmer and the Labour Party, Sunak conceded defeat in a speech to supporters, stating, “There is much to learn from this result, and I take full responsibility for our party’s loss.”

Speaking from central London, Sir Keir expressed optimism about the change his leadership would bring, remarking, “Change begins now. It feels good, I have to be honest.”

With nearly all results declared, Labour is projected to form the next government with a commanding majority of 170 seats. Meanwhile, the Conservatives are facing their worst electoral performance in history, having lost over 248 seats and currently holding only 119.

The election saw numerous high-profile Tory casualties, including former Prime Minister Liz Truss, who lost her South West Norfolk seat to Labour by 630 votes.

Truss, whose tenure was marred by controversies, saw her significant majority overturned, with the Reform candidate finishing third.

Reflecting on the electorate’s shift, Foreign Secretary James Cleverly acknowledged that many former Conservative voters had turned to Reform UK, led by Nigel Farage, who won a parliamentary seat in Clacton after multiple attempts.

Farage, in his victory speech, hinted at further surprises to come, promising, “This is just the first step of something that is going to stun all of you.”

Reform UK now boasts four MPs, including chairman Richard Tice and former Tory Lee Anderson, and has positioned itself as a formidable competitor, securing second place in many constituencies across the country.

In his celebratory address in London, Sir Keir Starmer rallied Labour supporters, heralding a new era of hope and opportunity after 14 years, proclaiming, “The sunlight of hope is shining once again on a country ready to reclaim its future. Now, we can look forward and walk into the morning.”
