“Calm Down,” one of the standout singles from Rema’s debut album Raves & Roses, released in March 2022, has garnered significant commercial success. The song’s remix with Selena Gomez, included in the deluxe version of the album, propelled it to even greater heights. The collaboration resonated with audiences worldwide, particularly in the US, where it set several records for Afrobeats and African music.

The remix’s phenomenal success is reflected in its impressive chart performance. It peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100, making it the highest-charting contemporary African song and second only to Hugh Masekela’s 1968 classic “Grazing In The Grass.” Moreover, “Calm Down” spent over 52 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 and reached the summit of the Billboard Pop Airplay Chart, both unprecedented achievements for an African record.
