Rema Speaks Out on Bizarre Rumors and Personal Values

Nigerian Afrobeats superstar and Grammy-nominated artist Divine Ikubor, popularly known as Rema, has addressed some of the most bizarre rumors about him circulating online.

In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Rema said people have accused him of being in the Illuminati, worshipping the devil, and drinking blood. He worries about how fast lies spread and how they cost him fans.

“There have been random stories about me being Illuminati, worshipping the devil, and drinking blood. I definitely lose some fans who believe anything they see,” Rema shared.

Rema talked about the meaning behind the pendants he wears. He explained that his jewelry is more than just an accessory—it holds deep sentimental value as a tribute to his late father and brother.

“That period was a dark time in my life, and I always wear this chain as a reminder,” he said. “No matter how crazy or amazing things get, I want to remember where I came from and the struggles I’ve overcome.”

Rema said he won’t have kids outside marriage. While he respects other people’s choices, he emphasized that he is intentional about his actions and future.

“I believe in building a strong family and growing into an empire,” he stated. “I also don’t want fatherhood to come as an accident. I’m very particular about these things, and I don’t really engage in reckless relationships.”

Rema also spoke about his strong friendships within the music industry, particularly with Nigerian singer Ayra Starr and South African sensation Tyla. He described both artists as close friends he has known long before their rise to fame.

“Ayra is like family to me, and so is Tyla. We’ve been good friends even before all the fame,” he shared.

Despite the rumors, Rema stays focused on his music and values.
