Reckitt Nigeria Concludes Successful WASH Accelerator Program, Awards N37.8M in Seed Funding to Six Social Enterprises

Reckitt Nigeria recently celebrated the successful conclusion of the Fight for Access to W.A.S.H Accelerator Programme in Lagos.

This program aims to tackle health challenges in Nigeria through innovation and cooperation.

At the event, a documentary highlighted the journey and impact of social enterprises like Let’s Build for Humanity, Onyeisi Care Foundation, Alora Reusable Pads, Toilet Pride, SOSO Care, and Kiddies and Brands.

These groups offer unique solutions, from sustainable sanitation to reusable menstrual hygiene products, addressing various WASH issues across Nigeria.

Reckitt presented seed funds to all six enterprises, emphasizing their commitment to supporting these innovative solutions.

The program winners received extensive support, including five months of boot camps, over 30 hours of volunteering, 36 hours of mentorship, and ongoing guidance from Reckitt mentors.

Each enterprise was awarded 6.3 million Naira to help implement their projects and make a real difference in their communities.

Cassandra Uzo-Ogbugh, Head of External Communications and Partnerships for Reckitt Sub-Saharan Africa, highlighted the importance of the WASH program.

She stated that social businesses with sustainable income models can create lasting change, and these social entrepreneurs understand their communities’ needs best.

By providing mentorship, training, and seed funding, Reckitt is addressing hygiene challenges and building long-term solutions.

She also announced that the enterprises would continue to receive support from Reckitt for the next year to ensure their success.

Mr. Nonso Opurum, Founder of Soso Care, expressed gratitude to Reckitt for their support and recognition. He noted that the funding and mentorship are vital for expanding their solutions and reaching more communities.

He is motivated to continue their work, knowing they have Reckitt’s backing to create a healthier and cleaner environment for all.

This initiative is part of Reckitt’s mission to create a cleaner, healthier world. Through the WASH Accelerator Programme, Reckitt is empowering communities and improving health and well-being across Nigeria.
