Mbappe, 25, had verbally agreed to the move to the Bernabeu in February and made public his decision to leave PSG at the end of the season in May. He has now formalized his agreement with Real Madrid, signing a contract to keep him at the club until 2029.

The deal includes a lucrative package, with Mbappe set to earn 15 million euros (£12.8 million) per season, alongside a substantial signing-on bonus of 150 million euros (£128 million) to be paid over five years. Additionally, he will retain a percentage of his image rights.

Real Madrid is expected to announce the deal next week and could formally present Mbappe at the Bernabeu before Euro 2024. The signing marks a significant milestone for the club, as Mbappe is considered one of the world’s top football talents.

Mbappe, a World Cup winner with France in 2018, leaves PSG as the club’s record goalscorer, having netted 256 goals since his arrival from Monaco in 2017. His move to Real Madrid will allow him to play alongside Croatian midfielder Luka Modric, who is set to sign a one-year extension with the club.
