Rapper Vector Urges Celebrities to Reject Bad Governance and Stand with Their Fans

As the #EndBadGovernance protest gains momentum across Nigeria, prominent rapper Vector has called on Nigerian celebrities to align with their fans and stand against poor governance.

In a powerful message shared on his X handle, Vector criticized celebrities who take sides against the realities faced by their own people. He urged them to stop supporting bad governance and to use their platforms to amplify the voices of the masses.

Vector’s post read: “Nigerian celebrities, it’s time to stop taking sides against the reality of our own people and fans. We must reject bad governance and stand with those who support us.”

His statement comes amid a wave of nationwide protests where Nigerians are demanding accountability and better governance. The #EndBadGovernance movement, sparked by growing dissatisfaction with the country’s leadership, has seen people from all walks of life taking to the streets.

Olanrewaju Ogunmefun, widely known by his stage name Vector, is a prominent Nigerian rapper, singer, and songwriter. Born on August 7, 1984, in Lagos, Nigeria, he has made a significant impact on the Nigerian music scene with his unique style and lyrical depth.

Vector was born into a large family as the fourth of five children. He attended several schools in Nigeria, including Command Children School, Ijebu Ode Grammar School, and Saint Gregory’s College in Lagos. His journey into hip-hop began in junior high school in 1994, where he started performing at various talent showcases.

He formed a music duo called Badder Boiz in 1999, which eventually evolved into a trio. Vector continued to pursue his passion for music while studying at the University of Lagos, where he graduated in 2008 with a degree in philosophy.

Vector’s music career took off with the release of his debut album, State of Surprise, followed by The Second Coming in 2012. He also released a mixtape titled Bar Racks in anticipation of his second album.

His third studio album, Lafíaji, came out in December 2016, and he continued to contribute to the hip-hop scene with the mixtape The Rap Dialogue in 2018.

In November 2019, he released his fourth studio album, Vibes Before Teslim: A Journey to Self-Discovery, marking a significant milestone in his career.

Notably, Vector is recognized for his role as the voice behind a Sprite commercial that has been airing in Nigeria since 2009, and he holds the record for the longest freestyle rap in Nigeria.
