They appeared determined to make a strong showing, eager to move past their previous challenging losses to PSG in the French Ligue 1. This initial momentum, however, was short-lived and only lasted for the first 10 minutes until PSG found their rhythm.

The goals for PSG in the first half were a result of crosses that reached the far post. Ousmane Dembélé and Fabián Ruiz capitalized on defensive errors to put the ball in the net, giving PSG a comfortable lead by halftime and setting them on course for their first cup victory since 2021.
In the second half, Lyon came back with vigor, even as they withstood a barrage of attacks from PSG’s Kylian Mbappé. Lyon managed to narrow the gap with a goal from a corner kick.
The cross from Rayan Cherki was met with a powerful header by Jake O’Brien, who notched his fifth important goal of the season.
Despite Lyon’s persistent efforts to level the score, they were unable to find the equalizer, and the match concluded with PSG celebrating a 2-1 victory to complete their domestic double.
