In a video statement released to the public, Princess Kate shared that she underwent significant abdominal surgery in London back in January 2024, initially under the impression that her condition was noncancerous.
However, post-operation tests revealed the presence of cancer, prompting her medical team to recommend a course of preventive chemotherapy, which she has now commenced.
“This news came as a tremendous shock, and William and I have been navigating this journey privately for the well-being of our young family,” expressed Princess Kate in her statement.

She further conveyed her gratitude for the support received and reassured everyone that she is steadfast in her recovery, focusing on holistic healing for her mind, body, and spirit. The exact type and stage of cancer were not disclosed.
Following her surgery, Princess Kate remained in the hospital, with the nature of the procedure kept private as per her wishes. Kensington Palace had previously indicated that she would refrain from public engagements until after Easter.
The 42-year-old princess, who had last been seen in public on Christmas Day 2023 attending a church service alongside the royal family, including her children and Prince William, has requested privacy and space as she continues her treatment journey.
