Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex, has officially renounced his British residency and declared the United States as his new home. According to documents obtained by Travalyst, the sustainable travel organization he founded in 2019, Prince Harry listed the US as his primary residence for the first time since severing his ties to the royal family in 2020.

The change in residency occurred on June 29, 2023, as indicated in the documents submitted by Companies House for Harry’s eco-travel venture, Travalyst.

Notably, this move follows Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, officially leaving their home in the United Kingdom on June 28. They vacated Frogmore Cottage after being evicted by King Charles III.

While it remains uncertain whether Harry’s renunciation of British residency will impact his royal titles, he is scheduled to meet his father next month during a visit to London. Despite the legal shift, Harry expressed in December 2023 that he still considers the UK his “home.”

However, safety concerns compelled him to seek refuge in the US. In a written statement presented in a London court during his legal bid for taxpayer-funded police security (which was denied), Harry emphasized the importance of ensuring his children’s safety on UK soil.

Harry has also contemplated obtaining American citizenship. Although it is not currently a high priority, he mentioned the idea during an interview with “Good Morning America” in February.

For the past four years, Harry and Markle have resided in California with their two children. According to Harry, West Coast living has been nothing short of amazing, and they intend to stay there for the foreseeable future.
