President Akufo Addo Congratulates Kristalina Georgieva On Reappointment

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has extended his congratulations to Kristalina Georgieva on her reappointment as Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for a second five-year term.

The Executive Board of the IMF announced Georgieva’s reappointment following a consensus decision, as stated in a press release issued by the Fund. Georgieva, who has been serving as Managing Director since October 1, 2019, was the sole candidate nominated for the position.

 

President Akufo-Addo commended Georgieva’s leadership and vision during her tenure at the IMF, highlighting her significant contributions to global economic stability and development. He noted that her reappointment reflects the confidence and trust placed in her by the Executive Board and the international community.

As Managing Director, Georgieva serves as the chief of the IMF’s operating staff and Chair of the Executive Board, overseeing the Fund’s operations with the assistance of four Deputy Managing Directors. Under her leadership, the IMF plays a crucial role in providing financial assistance, policy advice, and technical assistance to its member countries.
