In the vibrant Ghanaian music scene of the early 2000s, the group Praye reigned supreme. Their hits like ‘Angelina,’ ‘Kakyere Me,’ ‘Otoolege,’ ‘Ahomka Womu,’ and ‘Efie ne Fie’ resonated with fans across the nation. But behind the scenes, tensions brewed, leading to their eventual breakup.

The Root Cause was Praye Tenten’s departure, Praye Tiatia, one-third of the group, recently revealed the truth. It all started with a misunderstanding between him and Praye Tenten. Their disagreement became the catalyst for the trio’s split.

In an interview on D-Black’s UNKUT show, Praye Tiatia shed light on the internal conflicts. Praye Tenten had secretly collaborated on an album with another artist, catching the rest of the group off guard. When confronted, Praye Tenten’s response left them stunned. He essentially said, “If you don’t get it, I’m out.”

The Domino Effect Praye Ho-ne-ho, another member, also decided to leave. His disagreement with Praye Tenten’s actions sealed the group’s fate. It wasn’t about money; it was ego-driven conflicts that tore them apart. Praye Tiatia emphasized that sharing ₵100,000 wouldn’t have been an issue—it was the clash of egos that did them in.
Lessons Learned In hindsight, a resolution could have salvaged Praye. But sometimes, pride gets in the way, and even the sweetest melodies can’t mend broken bonds.
