Popular Ghanaian Footballer Arrested

In a shocking turn of events, a popular Ghanaian footballer finds himself among five suspects remanded in police custody over the murder of two police officers at East Trassaco, East Legon. The news, reported by Ghanaweb, has sent shockwaves through the community and the sports world alike.

The Chief Inspector identified one of the suspects, Ganiu Iddrisu, as a footballer while presenting the case. Alongside Iddrisu, the other suspects include Mohammed Alhassan Damba, a public servant; Chinkor Abdullah Alhassan, a foreman and Arabic translator; Alex Appoh, a gardener; and Bright Nana Kwame Owusu, a worker at Hakska Block Factory.

According to Chief Inspector Boadi, the accused persons are allegedly responsible for the murder of two off-duty police officers on May 2. Lance Corporal Tasigya Ngapun Isaac and Constable Benjamin Tindum were tragically shot and killed while seated in front of their private residence at East Trassaco, East Legon.

In light of the seriousness of the allegations, Chief Inspector Boadi urged the court to keep the suspects in custody to allow the police to continue their investigations into the matter.

Meanwhile, Nelson Noble Adedawonu, the counsel for the accused persons, made a plea for bail, asserting that the wrong individuals had been apprehended by the police. However, the trial magistrate, Prince Osei Owusu, did not grant the lawyer’s request. Instead, he chose to remand the accused persons in custody until the next court date, scheduled for May 20.
