The PGA Tour has not disclosed the cause of death, only noting that Carnevale died suddenly.

Carnevale won the 1992 Chattanooga Classic and was named PGA Tour Rookie of the Year. He also secured victories on what is now known as the Korn Ferry Tour.

In recent years, Carnevale was recognized for his role as a lead announcer for Sirius XM PGA Tour Radio, where he had been a key voice since 2005.

He most recently called the Scottish Open and was scheduled to cover the 3M Open in Minnesota this week.

PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan praised Carnevale, saying, “He was a member of that elite club, a PGA Tour winner, and then he held numerous roles within the industry, most recently as a significant voice in PGA Tour Radio’s coverage.

Mark knew the game and did a terrific job of conveying insights from his unique point of view — and with an engaging wit and sense of humor.”

Born in Annapolis, Maryland, while his father, Ben Carnevale, was coaching at Navy, Carnevale grew up in Williamsburg, Virginia, and played college golf at James Madison University.
