Peter Marshall, the legendary host of “The Hollywood Squares,” passed away on August 15, 2024, at the age of 98, leaving behind a rich legacy in American television.

Known for his charming and smooth style, Marshall brought joy to countless viewers with his ability to keep the show light and entertaining.

Before his fame as a game show host, Marshall had a successful career as an actor and singer, with notable performances on Broadway and in London’s West End.

Marshall starred in the stage musical Bye Bye Birdie in London, a satire inspired by Elvis Presley’s influence on American culture in the 1950s.

His role as Albert Peterson was memorable and contributed to the show’s 268-performance run.

Marshall also had a personal life marked by three marriages and four children. His son, Pete LaCock, made a name for himself in professional baseball, while another son, David LaCock, tragically passed away from COVID-19 in 2021.

Marshall’s own battle with COVID-19 in 2021 was a difficult time, but he managed to recover, retiring from the entertainment industry shortly afterward.

He spent his final years with his third wife, Laurie Stewart.

In addition to his television work, Marshall hosted several notable events, including a memorial service for singer Andy Williams in 2012 and a special edition of “The West Virginia Squares” in 2014.

Marshall’s contributions to the entertainment industry, both on and off-screen, will be remembered fondly by many.
