PDP to Elect New Chairman In August

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is set to elect a new chairman in August, according to decisions made at the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held on Thursday in Abuja.

Following discussions during the 98th NEC meeting, chaired by Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State, it was agreed that Umar Damagum would continue serving as the acting national chairman until the election of a new chairman in August.

Governor Mohammed, also the chairman of the PDP Governors Forum, briefed journalists after the meeting, highlighting the party’s commitment to a smooth transition of leadership. He emphasized that the next two months would witness significant activities within the party, culminating in the election of a new chairman.

“We will look at the issue of leadership and look at the issue of our constitution where it will be and we will do it without rancour,” Governor Mohammed stated, underscoring the party’s dedication to conducting the election transparently and harmoniously.
