The fire broke out in the main auditorium of the Christ Embassy Lagos Virtual Zone (CELVZ) on Billings Way, Oregun, Ikeja, on Sunday, June 23, 2024. This incident caused concern among members and local residents.

Videos on social media showed smoke rising from the white-painted building as firefighters from the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service (LSFRS) worked to control the flames.

Although the fire was eventually contained, the auditorium suffered significant damage, resulting in the loss of millions of naira worth of property.

During a live Sunday service at the church’s campground in Asese, Ogun State, Pastor Chris spoke about the fire. He viewed the incident as a chance for improvement and growth.

Reflecting on a past event, he mentioned that after the 2001 Ikeja Cantonment bombing, he considered rebuilding the church. He now sees this fire as another opportunity to create a grander structure.

Pastor Chris emphasized that nothing happens by chance in the life of a believer. He reassured the congregation that they would rebuild the auditorium, making it even more magnificent than before.

He concluded with optimism, stating that the new building would be bigger, better, and more glorious, turning the challenge into a victory.
