This victory makes Allman the first American woman to win two gold medals in the discus event. Her four valid throws all exceeded Feng’s best mark, showcasing her consistency and skill.

“I am on cloud nine. I am so happy and grateful for how the competition played out,” Allman told Irish broadcaster RTE Sport.

“The discus is such a strong field right now, until it was all done I didn’t let myself believe it was going to be true. To walk away as champion, I can’t believe it.”

Allman’s second-best throw of the day, reaching 69.21 meters on her final attempt, cemented her victory and led to a jubilant celebration with her coach Zebulon Sion.
