Becker, from Wexford, competed in the fourth and final heat, where she needed a significant personal best to advance. She finished second with a time of 51.28, trailing Kendall Ellis of the United States, who qualified with a time of 50.44.

Both athletes will return to the Stade de France on Friday morning for the women’s 4x400m relay, aiming to make an impact in the team event.
