Papa Shirandula was born as Charles Bukeko on July 10, 1962, in  Busia, Kenya. His parents were Valeria Makokha and Cosmas Wafula. Papa Shirandula started school at the Bukeko attended Jogoo Road Primary School and Upper Hill Secondary. As the first child of his parents, he was responsible for the upbringing of his siblings.
