Omar Sy parents: Meet Demba Sy and Diaratou Sy – Demba Sy and Diaratou Sy are the parents of French actor, Omary Sy, best known in France for his sketches with Fred Testot on the Service après-vente des émissions television show on Canal+ (2005–2012).

- His father is from Senegal and his mother is from Mauritania. They emigrated to France in the 1960s and settled in the banlieue of Trappes, where Omar was born and raised.
- His Mauritanian mother, Diaratou, worked as a house cleaner, and his Senegalese father, Demba, worked in an auto parts factory.
Sy’s parents have spoken about how they were determined to give their children a better life than they had in Africa.

They worked hard to provide for their family and encouraged their children to follow their dreams. Sy has credited his parents with his success as an actor, saying that they always believed in him and supported him.
In a 2013 interview with The Guardian, Sy said:
“My parents were very supportive. They were like, ‘Do what you want to do, but do it well.”
Sy paid attention to his parents’ advice and he is now one of the most sought-after actors in the world.
In 2021, he was included on the Time 100, Time’s annual list of the most influential people in the world. Most recently, he signed a first-look deal with HBO Max, to develop series for multiple markets, especially those that are French-speaking.
