Thomas Cashman has committed the murder of Olivia Pratt-Korbel. Many news outlets have said that Cashman mistakenly fired at the young girl and her mother while pursuing someone who had not paid for drug supply.

On August 22 of last year, Cashman shot the nine-year-old to death. He was also found guilty on two charges of having a firearm in his possession with the intent to endanger life and of trying to kill drug supplier Joseph Nee. Nine years old is Olivia.

Olivia was born by her parents, John Francis Pratt and Cheryl Korbel. When the shooter reopened fire, it was thought that nine-year-old Olivia was standing behind her mother. One bullet was fired, striking Olivia in the chest and Cheryl in the wrist.

The shooter persisted in trying to enter the house and fired two more shots at the man who had broken through the door.

As she presented her victim impact statement at Manchester crown court, Cheryl Korbel, the mother of Olivia Pratt-Korbel, who was killed by Thomas Cashman in August 2022, struggled to hold back her tears.
