Ghanaian award-winning rapper, Obrafuo, has shared his concerns about the direction of modern music.

He believes that today’s music focuses more on beats than meaningful themes, unlike in his time. According to Obrafuo, this shift has resulted in lower-quality content in contemporary music.

Reflecting on his era, Obrafuo said music back then had substance and revolved around themes.

He cited examples like Reggie Rockstone’s song about the experience of being denied a visa at the embassy and another song that depicted daily life’s struggles.

He emphasized that their music had stories and messages that listeners could relate to and learn from.

Obrafuo also mentioned that he strived to be unique by doing extensive research, which included incorporating proverbs into his songs.

His goal was not just to make people dance, but to leave them with something meaningful. This effort to stand out and provide depth in his music, he noted, set him apart from other artists of his time.
