This directive aims to uphold the cultural and traditional values associated with the festival.

Nana Osei Bonsu III, Chairman of the Akwambo Planning Committee and Tufuhene of Nyakrom, emphasized that the chiefs and elders would not tolerate attire that contradicts the festival’s cultural significance.

He made this announcement following a seven-hour clean-up exercise organized to prepare the town for the festival.

The clean-up saw participation from queen mothers, divisional chiefs, and members of the two Asafo companies, with assistance from Mr. Christian Ocran and his team from Zoomlion.

The Akwambo Festival is intended to promote tourism and cultural heritage, while also supporting local businesses.

A highlight of the festival will be a fundraising event on August 10, aimed at constructing new male and female wards at the Nyakrom Health Center. Nana Osei Bonsu called on both local and diaspora residents to contribute to this important project to enhance healthcare services.

The Tufuhene clarified that the festival is not merely for merrymaking but serves as an opportunity for reflection and improvement. He encouraged Christians and other religious groups to participate, countering any misconceptions of the festival being associated with idol worship.
