Senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that several Championship clubs are interested in the 27-year-old, whose tenure at the City Ground seems to be coming to an end.

Joe Worrall, the Nottingham-born defender who joined Forest’s academy in 2011, has been a key figure for the club over the past 13 years.

Joe Worrall played a crucial role in helping Forest secure their long-awaited return to the Premier League two years ago and was named club captain in 2022.

However, his playing time became limited following the arrival of Nuno Espirito Santo in December, and he subsequently spent a loan spell at Besiktas.

The decision to sell Joe Worrall comes as Forest face significant financial pressures. The club is nearing the limits of its allowable profit and sustainability losses as they prepare to submit their accounts on June 30.
