Prominent Ghanaian musician, Rex Omar has disclosed why not every song played during a political campaign rally needs to be paid for. He opined as MyNewsGh.com observed “When a song is used on a campaign platform it all depends on how that particular song was used on the political campaign platform or rally.

“Maybe I’m doing my campaign and I’ve brought in a DJ who has been paid for and the DJ is playing some particular song at the rally. He explained “If I have not instructed the DJ to be playing a specific kind of song and maybe your song happened to be played once or twice.

“As for that one, you can’t say that someone has used your song for their political campaign so they must pay you for that one”. Talking to Amansan Krakye, the veteran Highlife singer gave an instance when a song played at a rally should be compensated.
“Unless the person doing the campaign instructs the DJ to play your song consistently during the political rally that’s when you can demand compensation,” he justified.
