Norma Strait: Meet George Strait’s Wife

Norma Strait is the first love and wife of famous American country music singer and songwriter, George Harvey Strait Sr.

Norma Strait Biography

Norma Voss Strait was born on May 18, 1952, in Pearsall, Texas, in Frio Country, southwest of San Antonio. Norma has only received the public attention for being the wife of famed Country music icon, George Strait.

George and Norma grew up in the same town but met each other in high school. The two had dated on and off during their youthful days before eloping to Mexico on December 4, 1971.

However, the two high school sweethearts had a formal ceremony and exchanged vows in a church in Pearsall, Texas a couple of weeks later to make their parents happy.

Norma has since been a part of George’s life and even made an appearance in his music video for Codigo, in the year 2019.

Norma Strait Children

Norma Strait’s first child with George, Jenifer was born October 6, 1972, in Hawaii. Unfortunately, Jenifer didn’t live long as she got killed in an automobile accident in San Marcos, Texas on June 25, 1986, at a young age of 13. Norma was 32 years old at the time of her daughter’s death.

Norma also has a son by the name, George “Bubba” Strait, Jr who was born in 1981. George had reportedly pursued a career as a Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) team roping competitor.

Norma Strait and her family established the Jenifer Lynn Strait Foundation to keep their daughter’s memory alive. The foundation donates money to children’s charities in the San Antonio, Texas area.

Norma Strait and her husband, George are currently embracing their new role as grandparents following the birth of George Strait III “Harvey” ( born Feb. 2, 2012) and granddaughter, Jilliann Louise Strait ( born Sept. 10, 2016).

The two kids are children of Norma Strait’s son, Bubba and his wife, Tamara.
