Nj Ayuk is the founder/CEO of Centurion Law Group, a pan-African corporate law conglomerate that specializes in energy, extractive industries and the financial sector.

Nj Ayuk has a degree in Government and Politics from the University of Maryland, a Juris Doctor in Law at the William Mitchell College of law and later added an MBA at the New York Institute of Technology.

Nj Ayuk’s professional career began at the BakerBotts LLP and then proceeded to Vanco Energy. However, prior to the white collar jobs at the aforementioned institutions, Nj Ayuk engaged in menial jobs such as; cleaning hotels, construction jobs and working at fast food joints. These experiences armed Nj Ayuk with the needed knowledge on the right attitude towards work as well as the rubrics of proper customer service.

Nj Ayuk founded the Centurion Law Group after he left Vanco Energy. Nj Ayuk credits his success to Dr. Ron Walters, his mentor at the University of Maryland, whose belief is encapsulated in the philosophy; “a lawyer is either a social engineer or a parasite on society”.

Starting the Centurion Law Group was not an easy task especially because the African legal space had no set up to support African oil men and midsize western firms wanting to do business on the continent. The Centurion Law Group began with one office and then later expanded into many African offices and affiliates across the continent.

Nj Ayuk’s expertise includes; advising major companies on investment strategies, the establishment of joint ventures and cooperation structures, privatisation, licensing and related tax matters, OHADA law, oil and gas, power, local content development, litigation, contracts negotiation, governance and other matters pertaining to Africa’s energy sector.

As part of his most recent work on African content development, Nj Ayuk has advised the Ministry of Petroleum and Energies of Senegal, the Ministry of Petroleum of South Sudan and the Ministry of Mines and Hydrocarbons of Equatorial Guinea on their national local content implementation strategies.

Nj Ayuk also leads the African Energy Chamber, the largest industry association in Africa.
