Despite facing tough competition from Jamaica and Belgium, Nigeria needed a top-2 finish to qualify.

The team, composed of Dubem Nwachukwu, Dubem Amene, Sikiru Adeyemi, and Chidi Okezie, demonstrated resilience and strategy throughout the race.

Despite a slow start, Ogazi managed to hand the baton over in second place to Onojuvwevwo.

Okezie, the reigning African Games 400m Champion, then surged ahead, clocking the fastest split of 44.78s to take the lead from the USA team.

Joseph maintained the lead achieved by her teammates, but Kendall Elis of the USA reclaimed it in the final stretch, setting a Championships Record.

Nonetheless, Team Nigeria secured second place with a time of 3:13.79, ensuring their spot at the Olympics for the second consecutive time.

Their impressive time of 3:01.70 marks the fastest by a Nigerian male 4x400m team since the Athens 2004 Olympics, where they won bronze.

This achievement highlights Nigeria’s prowess in relay racing and sets a promising stage for their Olympic campaign.
