Nicolas-Jacques Charrier is the only child of the famous French actress Brigitte Bardot and her first husband, actor Jacques Charrier. Born on January 11, 1960, Nicolas had a tumultuous relationship with his mother, who has publicly expressed her struggles with motherhood.

After Bardot and Charrier divorced in 1962, Nicolas was raised primarily by his father’s family, leading to minimal contact with his mother during his childhood. Bardot’s lack of maternal instinct was evident, as she allowed Jacques Charrier full custody of their son.

This separation was compounded by Bardot’s controversial remarks about motherhood in her memoirs, where she referred to Nicolas as a “tumor” and expressed regret over his birth.

These statements led to a legal battle in 1997, where Nicolas successfully sued Bardot for violation of privacy, resulting in a court-ordered compensation for the emotional distress caused by her comments.

Nicolas’s relationship with Bardot remained strained for decades. He did not reconnect with her until adulthood, and even then, their interactions were limited.

Bardot has admitted to not being a good grandmother to her two granddaughters, Anna and Thea, who are Nicolas’s children. The only time she met them was in 1992 during a family gathering.

Nicolas-Jacques Charrier married Anne-Line Bjerkan, a Norwegian model, in 1984. They have two daughters, Anna (born 1985) and Thea (born 1990). Despite being part of a prominent family, Nicolas has largely kept a low profile, distancing himself from the media spotlight that often surrounded his mother.
