Ned Nwoko Meets Defense Chief to Seek Release of Detained Monarch

Senator Ned Nwoko, representing Delta North senatorial district, has taken proactive steps to address the ongoing unrest following the detention of the traditional ruler of the Ewu-Urhobo kingdom, His Royal Majesty Clement Oghenerukevwe Ikolo Urhukpe 1. In a bid to facilitate the release of the detained monarch, Senator Nwoko met with the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Gwabin Musa.

The detention of the traditional ruler follows the tragic incident in the Okuama community, Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State, where 17 soldiers lost their lives during a peace mission. His Royal Majesty Ikolo was among the eight individuals declared wanted by the military for their alleged involvement in the incident.

Senator Nwoko, accompanied by two other senators from Delta State, expressed deep concern over the situation and stressed the urgent need for peace and stability in the affected community.

During the meeting with General Musa, Senator Nwoko reiterated the importance of addressing the root causes of the Okuama tragedy and emphasized the significance of cooperation from all stakeholders in achieving lasting peace.
