The club expressed disappointment, stating Keïta’s actions contradicted team values, emphasizing the need for unity during challenging times.
Keïta’s absence from the Bayer Leverkusen match, where Werder Bremen suffered a heavy defeat, sparked the disciplinary action.
Clemens Fritz, the club’s head of professional football, criticized Keïta’s decision, stressing the importance of team interests over individual desires, particularly during tough periods.

Fritz stated, “We cannot tolerate Naby’s behavior. He betrayed his team when we needed solidarity the most, prioritizing his own interests.” The suspension means Keïta will miss team training and access to the first-team dressing room.
Keïta, who made his international debut for Guinea in 2012, boasts over 50 caps and represented his nation in several Africa Cup of Nations tournaments.
However, his recent actions have led to consequences at club level, highlighting the significance of team cohesion and commitment during critical phases of the season.
