Ghanaian musician Mzbel has expressed her readiness to move to Nigeria if offered a lucrative endorsement deal for an alcoholic beverage, amidst Ghana’s strict regulations on alcohol advertising involving celebrities.

Following the Supreme Court’s recent ruling upholding the Food and Drugs Authority’s (FDA) guidelines barring celebrities from endorsing alcoholic products, Mzbel voiced her discontent.
She sees these regulations as limiting opportunities for celebrities to secure endorsements that could substantially boost their income.
In an interview with Onua FM, Mzbel expressed her frustration, stating, “If I receive a profitable deal from a Nigerian alcohol company, I may have to relocate there temporarily to film the advertisement. I’m unsure if the government would restrict us from filming such ads overseas, but if so, we’ll oppose it.”

She emphasized the financial appeal of such endorsements, adding, “If I secure a deal, I would gladly take the money, endorse the product, and promote it on my social media platforms. Alcohol advertisements are highly lucrative, so it’s disappointing that we can’t capitalize on them.”
The Supreme Court’s decision, which reaffirms the FDA’s 2016 guidelines prohibiting celebrities from appearing in alcohol advertisements, has sparked debate within Ghana’s entertainment industry.
Despite challenges, figures like Mzbel continue to explore opportunities beyond the country’s borders in pursuit of viable endorsements.
