Kudus disclosed that Ghana’s premature exit from the tournament had a notable impact on his ability to find his rhythm at West Ham United.

The attacking midfielder was poised to play a pivotal role for the Black Stars at the AFCON tournament. Nevertheless, Ghana’s campaign concluded in disappointment as they were ousted in the group stage.

After his return from the AFCON in Cote d’Ivoire, it took Kudus five matches to contribute to a goal for his club side.

Speaking to The Guardian about his form following the tournament, Kudus confessed that the disappointment had indeed affected him.

“As human beings, we need some time to shake stuff off. I was injured before AFCON and had to put all my effort into being there to help the team. It was my first AFCON and it didn’t go as planned”

“When you go back straight into playing nobody ever gives you time to change gear. It had an impact because it was a big disappointment,” he added.
