In an emotional conversation with MzGee on “Just Being Us,” the gospel minister broke down in tears as he recounted his family’s ordeal.
MOGmusic and his wife had been trying to conceive for nearly a year after their marriage. The couple’s joy was short-lived when they lost their baby seven months into the pregnancy.
“We got married and for almost a year, there was no issue, so, I mean, my wife was very worried because, you know, when it looks like you and a certain group of people get married around the same time and every one of them, this one says, ‘I am pregnant,’ this one says, ‘I am pregnant,’ and you see the stomachs popping up, then she gets worried like people are asking, ‘When is it going to happen? You guys, what are you waiting for?’ You know, so she got very agitated,” MOGmusic explained.
Despite his reassurances and their prayers being answered, the couple’s hopes were dashed when the fetus did not survive beyond seven months. MOGmusic vividly recalled the moment he realized something was wrong.
“So she was at work and she called me; it was a Monday morning, I remember, she called me around 11 and she said, ‘Baby, I have not heard the baby kick the whole day,’ and I was like, ‘Errmm, that’s a problem, but let me call my mum.’”

The gospel artist described how the nurse’s reaction during the scan left them devastated. The nurse refused to communicate the situation and asked them to wait for the doctor.
“…Around this time, my wife couldn’t hold her tears; she was gone, and I was encouraging her. I took her to the car, sat her down, put my hands on her stomach, started calling the name of Jesus, you know, invoking this, I said, ‘Father,’ I prayed all the prayers I knew in the world hoping that our ears would hear good news.”
Finally, the doctor arrived and performed a scan, delivering the heartbreaking news.
“Then the doctor came and he did a scan. He told us, these were his words, I remember very well… ‘I don’t know what happened but the baby is not alive.’”
MOGmusic’s candid revelation has resonated with many, highlighting the pain and challenges faced by those dealing with the loss of a child.
