Tampa Bay Rays player Wander Franco is in serious trouble. He’s been charged with sexually abusing and exploiting a child in the Dominican Republic. The case involves a girl who was only 14 years old.

Franco, who is 23, has been under investigation since July 2023. Someone complained that he was having a sexual relationship with the teenager. The authorities are also saying Franco might be involved in human trafficking.

The girl’s mother is also in trouble. The people in charge of the case say Franco paid her thousands of dollars to keep quiet about what was happening with her daughter.

Franco hasn’t played baseball since August 2023. That’s when people started talking online about him being involved with a young girl. The baseball team told him to stay away from games after that.
Even though he’s not playing, Franco is still getting paid. He signed a big contract in 2021 for 11 years and $182 million. When he was playing, Franco did well. In three seasons, he hit .282, got 30 home runs, and helped his team score 130 runs.
Franco was supposed to be allowed to play again on July 14, but that probably won’t happen now because of what’s going on. We don’t know when he’ll have to go to court next.
This is a very serious situation that could end Franco’s baseball career and possibly lead to jail time if he’s found guilty.
