Michael Gene Lucci was an American football player who played for the Cleveland Browns for three seasons from 1962 to 1964 and the Detroit Lions for nine seasons from 1965 to 1973 in the National Football League.

He was born on December 29, 1939, in Ambridge, Pennsylvania, United States.
Lucci attended the University of Tennessee and the University of Pittsburgh, where he played for one year.

Lucci’s defensive coverage skills earned him 21 career interceptions while with the Lions. Four of those interceptions were returned for touchdowns by him. From 1969 through 1971, Lucci was chosen the Lions’ Defensive Most Valuable Player by his teammates. He was also All-NFL in 1969 and NFC All-Conference in 1970-1971.

Lucci was chosen to the Pro Bowl after intercepting five passes during the 1971 season, two of which he returned for touchdowns.
Lucci also played himself in the 1968 film Paper Lion and worked as a colour analyst for WJR radio’s Lions broadcasts from 1976 to 1978.
