John Michael Mulvaney is an American politician who has worked in both the public and private sectors. In Alexandria, Virginia, he was born to a real estate developer father and a teacher mother.

Mulvaney grew up in Charlotte, North Carolina, and then moved to Indian Land, South Carolina. He is of Polish and Irish descent, with ancestors from County Mayo, Ireland.
