In a conversation with Infobae, Messi recognized Real Madrid’s dominance based on their achievements. However, he personally appreciates the gameplay of Manchester City, managed by Pep Guardiola.

Messi expressed to Infobae that if one considers the results, then Real Madrid stands out. But if one looks at the style of play, he is inclined towards Guardiola’s City. He believes that any team under Guardiola’s guidance will be exceptional due to his coaching style and the way he shapes his teams. For Messi, at a playing level, City is the best, but in terms of results, it’s Madrid.

The ex-PSG player also revealed that he keeps in touch with Neymar Jr and Luis Suarez through a group chat. However, he is skeptical about Neymar joining him at Inter Miami in the near future. Nevertheless, the bond among the former Barcelona trio remains intact.

Looking ahead, Messi didn’t dismiss the possibility of playing in the 2026 World Cup, which will be hosted by the USA, Mexico, and Canada. By the time of the tournament, Messi will be 38 years old, and he is being pragmatic about his potential participation.

Messi mentioned that his decision would depend on his physical condition and being honest with himself. He would need to assess if he could compete effectively and support his teammates.

Currently, Messi’s attention is on the forthcoming Copa America this summer. After that, he intends to adopt a more laid-back approach until the World Cup.

Messi is renowned for his extraordinary career with Barcelona, where he was often a formidable opponent for Real Madrid. His time with the Catalan club was also marked by a famous rivalry with Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo. Presently, Messi is playing for Inter Miami in Major League Soccer (MLS), while Ronaldo is with the Saudi Pro League side Al Nassr.
